Every day kids have the opportunity to dream, but it’s not every day that those dreams are fulfilled. Help Fill A Dream cares about making dreams come true for critically-ill children on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
Golf for Kids is proud and humbled to have been associated with Help Fill A Dream since our very first fundraising event in 1997. Ours has been an incredible partnership for over two decades.
Well over 50% of all Dreams filled, and assistance provided to Island children and their families, is a direct result of the generosity of Golf for Kids supporters.
Children deserve a chance to simply be kids, and their parents deserve a chance to be mom and dad – not just caregivers. By working together we can continue to transform your generosity into support that makes meaningful impact on the lives of these kids and their families.
“Last year, our focus was on providing essential medical equipment. Many of the Dreams filled in 2024 were aimed at improving a child’s quality of life and aiding in recovery during treatments or while at home. The list was long and varied, from diabetic testing supplies and insulin pumps to power wheelchairs, adaptive trikes, in-home lift systems, and special beds. These gifts represent freedom, independence, peace of mind, safety, and improved healing for these kids and their families.
Additionally, there were those unforgettable Dream trips to Disney World, Disneyland, and Hawaii. The healing power of a Dream trip cannot be overstated. For many families, these trips provide a chance to spend quality time together and create new, happy memories. It is a time to momentarily forget their challenges and experience a sense of normalcy.

Helping families face challenging situations
Help Fill A Dream Foundation often comes into the life of a family when things are at their worst. When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening condition a family’s focus becomes their child, their medical appointments and treatment; there’s no time for anything else. Since 1986 Help Fill A Dream Foundation has been supporting those families from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands whose lives have suddenly changed due to their child’s diagnosis with a medical condition or severe health challenge.
“Our family’s introduction to Golf for Kids began when our son Braiden had his Dream fulfilled. From there, we continued to support the organization by hosting fundraisers and participating in their annual golf event. It was important for us to assist other families in providing their children with the opportunity to feel ‘normal’ even if it was just for a few days during a much-needed holiday or with medical equipment or special gifts. We know firsthand that the challenges of raising a child with diverse needs can be overwhelming both emotionally and financially. Having an organization like GFK to ease both burdens make it possible to face each day with a bit more joy and happiness.”
